Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe the first semester is over! I hope all our Roosevelt families enjoyed a wonderful break. The Fall Semester was filled with lots of learning and special events. Thanks to many people for providing enrichment experiences for our kids including Monty Harper - singer/songwriter, Sonny Glass - Native American Dancer, the "Lung Lady" and Narconon Speakers, country western dancers for a reward assembly, Emmanuel Baptist and First Presbyterian for an Appreciation Dinner, Mrs. Ginny Stinson for knitting hats for every kindergartner, the NEO Play "Alice in Wonderland", Security Bank for a visit from Santa, and to Mr. David Frazier and our students for the wonderful Christmas program.
Many of our kids met personal Accelerated Reader goals and were able to attend swim days at NEO or a visit to the Soda Shop in Baxter Springs. A special thanks to all the parents who brought treats or helped with our Halloween and Christmas parties. We appreciate your support at school. With this in mind, mark your calendars now for Spring PT Conferences to be held Feb. 9 and 10. Fall conferences we had contact with 82% of our parents. Our goal for Feb. is 100%, please help us reach this by attending in person or if this is not possible, scheduling a phone conference. Spring will be busy preparing for our OCCT State Assessments. We will soon start Targeted After School Tutoring for students who need some extra help. Please continue to check your child's Monday Folders for important school and classroom information and your child's work.
Please feel free to contact me with questions or to share your ideas. The Miami Public Schools website and Roosevelt homepage will also provide important information and updates. Communication between you, your child's teacher and school, is critical to their success.
Best wishes for an AWESOME Second Semester,
Melissa Bekemeier Principal Roosevelt Elementary 918-542-5576
